hillsbro   27 #13 Posted January 3, 2011 My Father bought the old Bradford Woollen Warehouse on North Church street, think would be around 58/59 time.Yes - the Don Cinema closed in March 1958 and Bradford Woollen moved there after the building had been converted. Aries22 Â Â 10 #15 Posted January 3, 2011 It's a modern thing having a fastening above the zip, but in times past, yes it was further over to the left.
 Share this content via...
fleetwood   10 #16 Posted January 4, 2011 I seem to recall a so-called wholesale place at the bottom of the narrow alley on the right and next to the old Bradford Woollen, i've forgotten the name of the place, you didn't have to have an account to shop there, just cash. Janet Olsen   10 #17 Posted January 4, 2011 I used to work at Bradford Woollen in the 60's & know a lot of people mentioned in this thread. The brothers were Denis & Eric & yes they did have personal number plates DS 1 & ES 1. I have some very happy memories of BW & am still in touch with one of the girls I used to work with we are both in our 60's now. The Swycher brothers were hard task masters to work for but I also found them fair & very profesional in their dealings. We always used to have a great christmas party which everyone used to look forward too. I also remember Mr. Hartley there was also a Mr. Ray Turner & a Mr Adam Mchattie who I believe died quite a young man. It was a great place to work actually & people seemed to be friends inside work & also outside work. My memories of working there are all good.
