Police siege in Shirecliffe 14/12/10

Recommended Posts

In situations like this I think it'd be really great if all the police officers could just go away.....apart from maybe a couple of officers hiding behind the door...the bloke would be really puzzled, probably feel quite deflated and eventually emerge empty handed and get nicked.

I know it can't be like that in the real world, but it's an amusing thought.

:hihi: social engineering could be the future of policing

The house, on Edensor Road, Norwood, is under police guard while negotiators try to persuade the man to come out.

A woman who had been inside the property with him emerged unharmed this afternoon.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "Police officers attended an address on Edensor Road in Norwood, Sheffield, at around 12.20pm this afternoon, to arrest a wanted 34-year-old man.

"On arrival, the man made threats to officers alleging he had a weapon, but this has so far been unconfirmed.

"Negotiators were called to the scene and a short time afterwards a woman who had also been inside the premises emerged unharmed.

"Negotiators remain at the scene whilst police attempt to persuade the man to come out.

"No-one else is currently believed to be inside the building with the man."

Vrinder Singh, who runs the nearby Premier Singhs' shop on Herries Road, told The Star: "It's really big. It started at about 2pm when about 15 to 20 police cars arrived.

"Officers cordoned off Edensor Road and people have been coming into the shop all afternoon who can't get home to their houses.
