Sheffield no longer pound shop capital of Yorkshire shock

Recommended Posts

According to this, Leeds has 12 pound shops and Bradford 11, but Sheffield doesn't even get a mention! :o Is this a sign that Sheffield is going upmarket, or just a sign that some of ours have been closed down and replaced by a pile of rubble?

My work recentley moved to Wakefield, and walking around the town center round here is amusing, on one stretch there is about 3 gold for cash/cheque advance shops, iceland, jack fultons, wilko's, 2 or 3 betting shops, and various pound/pound want to be shops all in a row.

Then there are the knuckle draggers who inhabit the city center.

Sheffield now seems very upmarket!!

Is the one at the bottom of the moor closed down now. Haven't been that far down in ages. But if it had that would only be 1 then.

we would probably top the polls for annoying questionaire people though!

There's the Poundland in the old "Emgas" showroom. Then where the new market will eventually be built, there was a "Poundworld" at Moorfoot, (where the shops were that have been demolished opposite Atkinson's) but that seems to have relocated to Peaks, too.

There is still a "Pound...." on the Moor (not sure if its Poundland or Poundworld). Its on the corner just above the large building site.
