returnofjim   10 #15 Posted December 5, 2010 Since you have completely lost your key its a little more difficult than just having a new one coded. Inside the keyfob is also the chip for the immboiliser. Your spare key should have an immobiliser chip inside it too and should start your car. You can synchronise a key fob but you can only program an immobiliser chip with diagnostic equipment. I would have another look for the key before you try and get a replacement. Getting a new key fob shouldnt be difficult, you can probably pick one up off ebay cheap but its the immobiliser chip what will be the problem, i have a feeling these will only be available from the dealers. The cheapest thing to do would be to get a key cut, buy a second hand fob and program it yourself and use the immobiliser chip from your spare key. If you need the key fob synchronising procedure i can email it you.
 Share this content via...

snowman2010   10 #17 Posted December 5, 2010 Hi Whilst cleaning my car of snow yesterday I have somehow lost my master key. After hours of pouring hot water onto the ground, using a metal detector and checking through every item in my black bin (just in case), checking the car, house etc it still has not materialised  I luckily have a second key that can be used to lock and unlock the car but it doesn't appear to be able to be either used remotely or be able to start the car. I understand that this is because it hasn't been programmed. I'm wondering if anyone knows of anyway of getting this done without costing an arm and a leg.?  I searched on line and one place quoted me £200, another one £50 but only if you live in North London! The peugeot dealers on Eccy Road were unable to help because their parts department had closed at lunchtime. I'm suspecting they would be very expensive.   you have my sympathy..i had to have a new console fitted in my car having lost the only key ..plus i had to get the car towed to the dealer..they were charging me around 800 quid for it.. fortunately i argued the toss with them there should be a code you can get to get a new key programmed..
