Helga   10 #1 Posted December 5, 2010 Hi Whilst cleaning my car of snow yesterday I have somehow lost my master key. After hours of pouring hot water onto the ground, using a metal detector and checking through every item in my black bin (just in case), checking the car, house etc it still has not materialised  I luckily have a second key that can be used to lock and unlock the car but it doesn't appear to be able to be either used remotely or be able to start the car. I understand that this is because it hasn't been programmed. I'm wondering if anyone knows of anyway of getting this done without costing an arm and a leg.?  I searched on line and one place quoted me £200, another one £50 but only if you live in North London! The peugeot dealers on Eccy Road were unable to help because their parts department had closed at lunchtime. I'm suspecting they would be very expensive. 0widdy0 Â Â 10 #2 Posted December 5, 2010 if it is the same as fords then you will need the master key to program new keys, all i can suggest is that you join an online forum for your car as they will more than likely have exactly the right answer for you, most forums are free to join so i would do it now, what model is it that you have? Bonjon   10 #5 Posted December 5, 2010 Firstley, change your battery, secondly IIRC you have to pair the key to the car (it is probably already coded).  Thirdly, if its not coded I hope you have your code sheet? If you do its cheapish (£50) if not its a dealer jobby (£200).  As a side note can you use your second key to unlock the car manually? And does it start it, if it does it suggests its coded.  What model pug? Age?
 Share this content via...
Helga   10 #6 Posted December 5, 2010 Hi the key does unlock the car and will turn the engine over but not start it. Its a 2002 307 diesel. I will go and look through my paperwork to see if I have my code sheet. If I do where would do it for £50?  The peugeot forum I found had several key related questions but non of them had been answered. Also they were not local and so unlikely to be able to point me in the direction of someone cheap locally but thanks for the suggestion. clubfut   10 #7 Posted December 5, 2010 An auto lock smith can do this for you. Not sure of the price though. Most places that do keys can do these master keys. Try small independant ones like in the castle market i know for a fact they do em.
 Share this content via...
Bonjon   10 #8 Posted December 5, 2010 If it wont start the car it suggests its either uncoded or not paired with the car or the battery in the fob is dead.  Not sure on prices, was just going on the ones you said, but have a look on the net, if it does need coding you do need the code, its on a credit card type thing with a bit you can scratch off.  But do try another battery in it.
