England lose bid to host the 2018 World Cup!

Recommended Posts

It's interesting that people some of the FIFA executives voted for Belgium/Holland in the first round of voting, and then seemingly voted for Russia in the next and final round, whilst Belgium/Holland were still in the competition.

It's clear that this was done to ensure that England was knocked out in the first round, this along with the FIFA excectutives openly lying to the future King and the current Prime Minister about their voting intentions, will surely mean that there will be ramifications for this very open political statement from FIFA, especially for the FIFA executives who publicly supported the bid.

The first move is rumoured to start with England pulling out of a Friendly in Thailand in June, with was arranged as a thank you for them agreeing to support for the England bid.

England had thought that through their public pledges they had at least eight backers but virtually every one them reneged on their agreements. Only Hayatou, the Cameroonian who was one of the FIFA executives in the centre of the corruption allegation stuck by England, it was thought in return for their support in 2002 when he unsuccessfully tried to unseat Blatter.

Jack Warner who is the Concacaf president said he backed our bid. He shook hands with the PM, had his picture taken with Prince William, asked for and got a friendly with England against Trinidad and Tobago, then promptly took his three votes to Russia.

The Cypriot Marios Lefkaritis and the Ivorian Jacques Anouma did likewise as did Turkey's Senes Erzik. All of these votes went to Russia, except from Erzik's, who went to Holland/Belgium in what appeared to be a calculated effort to knock out England in the first round.

The Korean Mong-joon also promised to support England in a deal that would see England support South Korea in the 2022 race, for the first round at least. Apparently it was sealed over a whisky with the PM. So we voted for the Koreans, they never voted for us.

David Beckham is said to be personally insulted by the organisation that he's supported whenever they've asked him to by being one their football ambassadors, and he still carries a lot of support within FIFA so it'll be interesting to see what he does with this anger.

I heard a report on the radio today that only 3 FIFA executives only asked for a copy of our bid portfolio, and two of them asked so they could give it to one of our competitors.

Another rumour doing the rounds is that we judged by FIFA to are the back up country for the World Cup, if any of the countries get into trouble with their organisation and find out that they cannot host it, FIFA will turn to England as we have the ability to host it at the drop of an hat.

if the last sentence is correct, should it happen we should tell them to go forth and multiply. if we we not considered good enough when we applied for it, then we dont want it now. That would leave FIFA and their corrupt leader with a rather large egg on the faces

But we won't, will we? We'd never pass up the chance of hosting it.

Seriously? We have the power to threaten them?

I always thought FIFA were the International Football MaFIa

(Continental pronounication = Football International MaFIa, naturally)

Of course, before the premier league the only time you'd see the worlds best players playing against themselves was every 4 years during the World Cup. Now you can see a lot of them week in and week out in the premier league. No other league has players from so many nations playing in them, if people are watching this every week it cheapens the World Cup as product, to both football supporters and sponsors.

Maybe this is the reason for the FIFA backlash,

Looks like the FIFA executives may have to pay for their own hotel accommodation during the olympics now as Boris Johnson has withdrawn his bung bribe offer of free rooms for Sepp and his chums.

That'll show 'em!

And how about Theresa May refusing them entry to the UK as doing so would be "conducive to the public good".

I hope septic Bladder does come and when the stadium announcer says something to welcome him, the fans can really let him have it with the chanting

Excellent post. It's not like they don't know about the corruption that has been going on for well over 30 years going back to when Havelange was in charge.

Spot on. Suck up to bullies, blackmailers and crooks and you will get shafted in all probability

Does anyone else find it odd that the FA's response to believing the bid was unfairly won by bribery, is to withdraw the bribes that they were offering?
