Hi Kezina,

I can't answer your question but noticed that we both live in the same area have the same job and we are probably around the same age. It's has taken nearly a year to get my thyroid under control with the tablets but I don't see why your doctor hasn't been treating you along side the blood tests because that is what mine has done. The symptoms are horrendous and I've only now started feeling a bit more normal. If you want to talk PM me are meet up for support let me know.:)

Has anyone had any issues with their T4 medication? I can't seem to shake the brain fog and vision issues even though my TSH is now optimal.

I'm trying to be supported to try some additional T3 through my GP/Endo.

I was diagnosed with an under active thyroid just over 5 years ago. I was also told I was suffering from severe anaemia. I was frighteningly tired every morning upon waking and was a lot less tired in the evening (classic anaemia signs).

I had blood tests every three months to get my thyroxine levels right and was told that the tablet strength has to be increased gradually (it is also very dangerous to suddenly stop taking them).

Five years later I still take iron tablets (two or three days a week) as well as the thyroxine and have a lot more good days than bad and I only have to have one blood test a year.

Hi peeps, ive been hypothroid for ten years now(since i was 21)and have been on levothyroxine since. My levels are ok but the symptoms are still there and seem to be getting worse.I suffer from fatigue, nightsweats, mild shaking, and anxiety also i seem to have aged ten years in last 5.Its like having a permanent hangover, pretty much just turned my life upside down.Im constantly at the doctors to see if there is any alternative medication i could try like armour thyroid but they dont seem to know what im talking about or just dont want to take a risk of it making thing worse. Is there any one out there who has the same problem as me with the levothyroxine but has now sorted it in some way if so how.also if anyone knows of a specialist i could use would be of help? Thanks and peace!!

I know exactly what you mean with your vision issues. It's a little like you don't see the whole picture?

I have to say the new combination of medication hasn't changed that for me although it has made my mood improve... I think... I'm not sure if that would have changed anyway had I given things more of a chance.

I'm hoping that my body learns to accept the medication and that things feel more normal over time, although I have no thyroid at all so totally rely on synthetics.

This combination of therapy does work for some people though. Have you had your T3 levels tested? Ask for a referral to and endocrinologist and discuss it with them. Be prepared for a battle though.

Hi All

I have just moved to Sheffield and I have had an Underactive Thyroid for years.

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a doctor or specialist here as I am having problems with my meds yet again.

Thanks
