surfinjim   10 #1 Posted December 1, 2010 We have a desktop at home, and our 9 year old has a netbook, which is wifi enabled.  Just checking some of his browsing history, and I've come across a web site I don't think he should be viewing, and I thought I had put steps in place to stop him accessing.  I have obviously missed something.  Any tips or pointers really appreciated.  Jim
 Share this content via...

That allows you to set a variety of parameters to restrict access to unsuitable content.  If you aren't, either ask for the same from your ISP, or switch.  Alternatively, swap the netbook for a football. clubfut   10 #5 Posted December 1, 2010 Or you can go into "control panel" from the "start menu" and follow instructions on "parental settings"
 Share this content via...
swarfendor437   14 #6 Posted December 2, 2010 Or 'install' OpenDNS - this allows you to block types of site and specific sites not covered.  Check it out here  Panda Internet Security has good parental controls included.  swarfendor43
 Share this content via...
alchresearch   214 #7 Posted December 2, 2010 Depending on your router you can block sites. The AV software NOD32 also has this feature. You can download lists of questionable content and drop the details in.
 Share this content via...

Grandad.Malky   11 #11 Posted December 2, 2010 Why not let your son know that his browsing is being monitored, that in its self may be enough to deter him from viewing inappropriate sites, I assume you have told him what you have found.
