I'm curious about the people who've gone to work. I was texted at 6.55 am and told not to even try as the first foray to travel 4 miles had taken over an hour and twenty minutes. I'm glad of that as our local roads haven't been gritted in S26 and I doubt I would have safely got to S2, a distance of around 8 miles or so.

What was you situation and how far did you have to travel?

This is the type of thread I was responding to with this:-

I didn't have to cos I've got the week off

If I'd been working and I couldn't get the car out I'd have walked it both ways anyway. Only 4 miles so just takes 1 hr 15 minutes and the bus fare is a bloody disgrace.

Bet some idle gits who only live a mile away can't be bothered though.

Edit - When I started typing this I was sure this was a general "Did you get to work today?" thread and had nowt to do with teachers.

before my post was dumped in the teacher-bashing thread. And now it doesn't make much sense in the context of that thread.

Is today really that bad? I must have been lucky, when I set off for work buses were running and main roads where mostly clear. It took 20 minutes longer than normal to do 30 miles.

I reserve the right to change my mind if it takes 3hours+ to get home or I get stuck! :D

As soon as there is snow forecast I start leaving my car on the nearest main road in a reasonably safe place. The only problem I ever had was when I didn't do this and no amount of digging would get the car off the drive. Busses had stopped that day too.

Me and girly set off 20 minutes early from Foxhill to accomodate dithering idiots slipping and sliding, and were at work (Childrens Hospital and Fulwood) early.

Will be here til 5 as usual.

Top job done by the gritters :)

Work from home unless I am out training, which I wasn't, so spent some of the day in Bingham Park watching the young ones having a whale of a time on the sledges.

It was as good as the Ski village and for free!
