Spec'ing and building a new pc

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm currently spec'ing up a new PC and things have changed since I last did this -)

Does the following sound OK? The CPU/M-board/RAM is a bundle from Overclockers, so I guess it should all work together. Just wondering if there are better/cheaper alternatives to any of the parts worth considering?

Main Bundle: $500

- CPU: Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz @ 4.00GHz

- Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58-USB3 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard

- RAM: Corsair XMS3 (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Triple Channel

- Cooler: Akasa Nero S CPU Cooler

- Artic Cooling MX-3 Thermal Compound

Disks:

Corsair Force 40GB F40 2.5" SATA-ll SDD - $82

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - $30

Graphics:

OcUK GeForce GT 430 1024MB GDDR3 Low Profile PCI-Express Graphics Card - $57

I don't play games, but I guess this should be OK for playing back HD video?

Case etc:

Coolermaster case - $33

Extra 120mm fan - $7

Corsair TX 650W ATX SLi Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-650TXUK) - $71

3x Sata 2 cables - $10

Sony DVDRW - $14

Card-reader - $7

Have I forgotten anything?
