Wii: "Resident... Evil... Four...."

 

I didn't know that any good and / or violent games existed for the Wii. I thought they were was all just Mario-themed games, keep fit and, er, dancing

 

I still wouldn't buy one though

I was tempted - the Adman 3000 version was played a lot in my early years.

 

To be honest, cutting it down to 5 was tricky enough, so I just went for the ones which I find myself replaying over and over again today (and even that was a struggle seeing as retro is my passion). Also, was unsure whether to include arcade games (of which Donkey Kong, Wonderboy in Monster Land, Phasar, Ikari Warriors, Smash TV and Bubble Bobble would be there) and old home computer games (Dungeon Master and Captive on the Atari ST, and the Monty Mole series, and Elite on the ZX Spectrum).

 

If I wasn't limited to 5, I would also throw in "Keystone Capers" and "Pitfall 2" (Atari 2600), Goldeneye (N64), the 'Strike' series (Mega Drive or SNES), R-Type (Arcade, but some excellent home conversions too including the PC Engine), Bomberman (again lots of incarnations), amongst a plethora of other games.
