Asking for a friend who would like new guttering/soffits on her mid-terrace, ex-council house. The existing ones are the original wooden ones, ie 56 years old.

She's not sure whether to have plastic or aluminium. Could anyone offer any advice please.

Thanks

aluminium gutter is a good way needs no maintenance apart from cleaning

plastic guttering needs a bit more maintenance as the joints have rubber seals which perish after time

but both are good options

If its possible i would opt for the Seamless aluminium Guttering.

It is miles better than plastic. It doesn’t loose its colour like plastic does.

Also because it gets put in in one piece you don't have to worrie about joints leaking a couple of years down the line.

Thanks for the replies ... I'll pass on the info. I think she'll be arranging to get a few quotes soon.

If its mid terrace with wood guttering either side you might not have any option than to replace with wood unless the neighbours all decide to upgrade too.
