swordfish1   10 #26 Posted November 10, 2010 another restaurant going to the wall ,a great venue food and drinks but a victim of this robbing council ,struggling to survive and no help from the city councils, shameful  eerrrr from the man himself ,telling me only 2 wks ago he's had enough and will be closing the doors soon as bills arent getting paid as the councils restricted his licence yet again,  the risk factor of not getting alternative booking so near xmax is too great ,by no responses it is quite obvious the writings on the wall, but all you doubting thomas's i'll speak to you after xmas when disappointment will possibly be the flavour of the posts  Dear All,  Thanks for all the positive post, 23 business is currently at its best following the 2 year recession. There has been no issue regarding licensing.  And currently in discussion regarding a refurbishment taking place in the New Year.  Once again thanks for your custom, hope to see you over the christmas spell  23 x   So someone is lying................ scottf   21 #27 Posted November 10, 2010 if you're that confident you shouldnt take deposits off people then or take say £2 per head then if the unseen circumstances that walnut /nonnas/and a few others like rafters come along people wont be that out of pocket ,i for one have had some great food in there but i have to tell it as it is  Every xmas do that i have been on we have had to pay a deposit- its pretty much industry standard. KATIEB_23   10 #29 Posted November 10, 2010 hhhmmmmm sounds like you are more involved in this place than we thought, have you heard of negative risk ,Haha nope - if you look at any of my other posts you'll see I'm just very enthusiastic about good food when I find it. It sounds to me like you are just a numpty spreading malicious lies for no reason.  I still maintain that whenever I have booked a Staff Christmas Party, EVERYWHERE I have enquired at has expected a deposit to confirm the booking. It's just the norm, and totally acceptable - nothing to do with possible financial issues, but more about making sure the party don't just change their mind & go somewhere else leaving you with wasted food.  I would be nervous of a place that didn't ask for a deposit - worried that when we turned up they might have double booked or something. chill   10 #30 Posted November 10, 2010 To get back to the question in hand, I took my team there for Christmas dinner last year, it was nice food, excellent value, and the service was spot on, which was impressive given how busy they were. Might go back this year, though tempted to try that Bar & Grill place to compare (going to one of their soft openings tonight).
