Secret Personal Messages in the Star Newspaper

This may sound abit bizarre but can anyone else remember the personal messages left in the star newspaper, must be twenty years ago or more. Usually one liners, and I cant even remember the names (possibly initials used). They went on for years, possibly a forbbiden love affair. I know, I need to get out more often.

I remember them very well

I would spin stories about the messages who had left which message and why.

I saw one which was addressd to my name and wondered if it was for me, just the christian name and the message needing no answer.

I never did find out.
