sheff 13 Â Â 10 #25 Posted July 15, 2013 The canal is stuffed with fish, as for litter it's always been a problem. It will never change. It's not only fishing venues that get the litter treatment if the Sheffield street cleaners were given a few weeks off the roads would be knee deep in rubbish. It sounds a harsh comment but it's true. And it's not just kids!
 Share this content via...

DaveGas   10 #32 Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) Yes Arfer quite a few of the local fisheries are disabled friendly with easy access to the pegs, our match in April is on a nice flat bank so feel free to put your name down for a very pleasant and good day out for a good cause Edited February 18, 2014 by DaveGas
 Share this content via...

sheff 13 Â Â 10 #34 Posted February 18, 2014 Hello Arfer there are a few local to me in South Sheffield with flat walking and easily accessed fishing platforms but other facilities are scarce. Aston Park has toilets but lot of pegs are far from disabled friendly with ramps to platforms. As Dave says the pond at Aston Park they're fishing their match on has flat banks and new platforms. There are 3 new ponds at Aston Park all suitable for disabled anglers. Also Side Farm has flat banks but a few platforms are dodgy, Straight Mile has flat banks with a few dedicated disabled platforms. All fisheries locally have excellent fishing. It's best to have a short trip around and decide what you feel is best for you.
 Share this content via...
denlin   12 #35 Posted February 18, 2014 As Dave has been up to see the new Butts lake at Aston Park Arfer I think you'll find that it is indeed disabled friendly and the owner has donated the pond for nothing as we are raising money to send 3 year old Lillie who has cerebral palsy to the USA for an operation to be able to walk. The fee for the match is £10, £9 of which goes to Lillies fund and the other £1 goes to the winner. We also usually have loads of prizes donated from the kind folk of Sheffield as a small thank you to the anglers who have given their time and money to help Lillie. Also they are the nicest bunch of lads you could wish to meet and the match is friendly rather than competitive Hope you can make it
 Share this content via...
