ssemmo   10 #1 Posted September 28, 2010 I have recently had a new boiler installed but i am unaware as to where to take my old boiler and the asbestos board that surrounded it, can it go to the local tip or does it need to go somewhere else? bazjea   10 #4 Posted September 28, 2010 (edited) I have recently had a new boiler installed but i am unaware as to where to take my old boiler and the asbestos board that surrounded it, can it go to the local tip or does it need to go somewhere else?  The council recycling depots will accept Asbestos if it is securely wrapped up. ie in 2 bin bags and taped up They have a skip for Asbestos waste. they will also take your boiler.  There are depots at Deepcar, Gleadless Valley. See council website for full list and addresses Edited September 30, 2010 by bazjea
 Share this content via...

mollymoptop   10 #7 Posted September 28, 2010 you can weigh the boiler in and get a small amount of money for it or as suggested leave it out side and the scrap men will take it. also you need to wrap the asbestos up idealy in 2 layers sealed with gaffer tape, do this outside wear a suitable mask, gloves and wash everything down afterwards.DO NOT BREAK IT UP hope this helps. Hairyloon   10 #9 Posted September 28, 2010 Copper is over £3000/tonne at the minute, if the coppers in your pocket were actually copper, they'd be worth more as metal than as money. thankyou wasnt aware if the boiler would be taken by scrapmen ... It is metal, it is not nailed down... they'll take it. I had two stolen a week or two back. Most annoying, I had a better plan for them than a weigh in.
