speenie   10 #1 Posted September 20, 2010 As the title suggests, I'm noticing when I iron that several items have tiny little holes in them. It's not always the same type of fabric either. At first I thought it must have happened wearing the clothes, but now I'm noticing more. Any help would be appreciated - i'm baffled! They just love cotton, even very small ones can cause damage.
 Share this content via...

the_rudeboy   12 #7 Posted September 20, 2010 Quick replies! So... the natural follow on question.... what do I do?! :-)If it is due to moth larvae you can try mothballs, or they don't like the scent of juniper, cedar or lavender. nickycheese   10 #9 Posted September 20, 2010 Could also be these little blighters (the larvae, "wooly bears", eat clothing): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varied_carpet_beetle
 Share this content via...
Moosey   10 #10 Posted September 20, 2010 There are quite a few possibilities. We had the same problem and tried a few ideas...  1. It could be that you're overloading the washer. That causes clothes to push bits of fabric out of the holes in the drum, causing what you're describing.  2. It could be a problem with the washing powder apparently (according to the guy who looked into ours for us) whereby it clogs and causes some sort of chemical wear and tear. Sounds odd I know.  3. Bra wire or something similar sticking into the drum.  4. Moths or something.  We went through this for ages before we discovered it was number 1.
