Help with website

Recommended Posts

Hi

My husband has set up his own website but is having problems getting traffic through.

He has had a few hits, but needs help.

Does anyone have any ideas.

He is advertising sports and weight loss programms or anything that will help generate income:help:

Any help would be appreciated:P

Well, posting the URL is generally a good move. :)

New users can't post URLs :P

- Has he got his own domain and professional hosting?

- Or is he using one of the free site providers? [websitename].WEBS.com or something like that?

Weight loss programmes will be an incredibly competitive market place I would imagine. To generate any significant traffic your first task is to make sure the site is correctly built, if your husband is new to building a website then it was probably not build 'correctly' (standards etc).

Is the content compelling/interesting to read?

Do you have your own (relevant to page) domain name?

Is the content marked up in a semantically correct way?

If your new to the game I'd suggest asking someone to review it for both technical structure and for SEO (bit of a buzzword you will get bombarded with posting a thread like this I'm afraid, some folks will charge you a fortune for time on 'SEO' like it's some magic art, it isn't).

A link to the website would help, otherwise it's impossible to say what he might be doing wrong.

The pages were allegedly created so that all he had to do was upload them to a server....and hey presto people would be falling over themselves to buy!

Whether this is the case or not I'd really like to know....unfortunately the forum tells me I have to make more posts before I can post a link!

The url has been sent to all the obvious places, search engines and the like, but I'm told it could take a year to get anywhere near the top of their lists!

Do you get many people coming to your site from search engines?

Now that I have enough posts I think I can include the link!

http://www.fast-track-to-fat-loss.co.uk/

as recommended, the site name does what it says on the tin!

Looks like all the other ebook/software resale websites out there.

Edit: I was right:

http://www.onlinebooks4u.com/

http://fasttrackweightlosspro.com/

http://rapidfatlosssecretsrevealed.com/

http://secretstofatloss.biz/

http://fasttracktofatlosssystem.com/

http://easyspeedyweightloss.com/

http://weightlossformula4u.com/

http://on-a-fast-track-to-fat-loss.com/

and that's just from searching the tag line "Finally, after years of research, testing, and hard work, a breakthrough method of losing weight has finally been created …" in quotes into Google (1st page only, there're more on page 2).

You're not going to make much (if anything) nor get many visitors, nor are you likely to get high on any SE as there is far too much duplicate content on your site and the others.
