Vickers Drive/Rake Road - Firth Park

Did anybody on here live here in the late 60's/early 70's. It was around that time the the road was renamed from "Rake Road" to "Vickers Drive".

I was born there and lived there upto about '78/'79.

Thanks for that - the only one i remember from that list (apart from my dad at number 12 ) is Mrs Bond the old lady that lived in the bottom house. But i was only 3 in '68 and i think Mrs Bond was still there when we left when i was about 12

Hi I’ve only just seen your post about living on rake road in the 60s , as I have just lost my dad this year and was looking back in the past. My mum and dad lived I think at number 4 rake road Kenneth and Mary kent, where me and my brother and sister were born, Andrew Susan and Beverley. Think it was Mable and Brian that lived next door which would have been on hucklow road.

I lived on Vickers Road Sheffield 5 in 1966.

As you turn right into Hucklow Rd. coming up Barnsley Rd.

You pass on your right, Wheldrake Rd, then Ellerton  Rd.. the next right is Vickers Drive.

Of course it is.   I know it now.

It's the end bit of Vickers Road which goes up the steep hill to Hucklow Road.
