Mo   10 #1 Posted March 7, 2003 Part of the history curriculum for KS2 covers the second world war. I was wondering what a visit to Eden Camp near Pickering might be like from a childs perspective. Has anybody been?
 Share this content via...
laycocks-sport   10 #2 Posted March 7, 2003 Re: Eden Camp I am a writer and went to Eden Camp last year as research for a book i am working on. It was a good day out and does cover ww1 as well as more recent wars. It caters for old and young alike and most days school parties come by the coach load. Andy   10 #4 Posted March 7, 2003 I went to Eden Camp on a school trip, and I remember that I really enjoyed it. There's plenty to keep the kids occupied and hopefully they should learn lots too.  They have a website - http://www.edencamp.co.uk/ - with more details.  Are you a teacher, Mo? chezlyn   10 #9 Posted December 20, 2004 It's a few years since I visited but I thought it was a brilliant place. Lots of smells and re-creations of what it was like, such as inside a submarine or on a blitz street. My parents took my nephew last year on a special day, everyone was dressed up in period costume and he thought it was fab, he even got a ride in a side car of an ancient bike. Tracie   10 #11 Posted February 1, 2005 I went to Eden Camp last year (I was actually on a random trip to Filey and took a diversion). I really enjoyed it. Some of the photographic exhibitions will probably be to disturbing for young children, but you can always just skip that particular display. Its open all year except for the period 23rd Dec to 10th Jan.
 Share this content via...
JBee   10 #12 Posted February 1, 2005 I went to Eden Camp twice on School trips! Seem to remember I found it a bit dull, but I was a bit girly and not really into all the war stuff. The boys enjoyed it!  I remember it being full of old tanks and stuff, with WW2 replica-bunkers that really smelt!  Think they had us wearing gas masks and doing air raid drills too.
