Guest chrisssy   #3 Posted August 21, 2005 From my experience with Spybot, it sometimes takes ages to create a restore point and then ages again to remove what it finds.  On an older version of Spybot I used to use, the dialog box asking if it was OK to proceed appeared behind the main window so it looked like it had crashed.  If I were you, I'd upgrade to the latest version of spybot if you haven't already and then (after the definitions are updated) run in safe mode like sscsux says.  Having said that, have you tried Microsoft Spyware removal tool? I've found it also quite good.  The only other thing I can think of is that you have something which disables anti virus software like coolwwwsearch.
