That is difficult.

These are only suggestions.

 

1: fill the pipe as much with water as possible, try to get it full. Then use a 4.5 inch plunger inside the pipe, use the 8 inches. And violently, hard, abrupt, with force move it up and down for a few minutes, don't stop keep doing it hard for a while.

You need to be strong and I give that 50% chance of success.

 

2. get access to the first bend and remove it to use a 8 feet snake, the pipe can be fixed again afterwards. Use two 45 bend to make access easier.

That will have close to 100% of success.

Hi all,

 

I really hope someone can help. Our current cast iron (asbestos coated) drain stack is blocked vertically with roots, and needs replacing entirely. The second problem is that it is 52ft high (4 floor terraced house in S11), meaning it's a scaffolding job.

 

I have called all the top rated drain installation companies in Sheffield, and also Dyno; none of whom will do the job.

 

In summary, I'm in deep trouble. Our main toilet can't be used (other one is outside and horrible), and I can't find anyone to even do the work.

 

Any recommendations?

The survey we had done when we moved in said it was either asbestos lined or coated.

 

I'm just going by that!

I want to clean out a drain in front of our gate (stop massive puddle) but the old cast iron lid will not come up. Anyone in the trade could advise me on a piece of kit to buy to lift it - looks like it should hinge on one side to open facing up. Not been lifted for few years by the looks of it as it is on a now private drive.

.... particularly with the ability to do small jet washing.

I have a blocked outside drain gulley Yorks Water have been and looked, and he recommended getting someone out to get a teeny jet washer down there.

I have an outdoor drain/ sewer pipe that appears to be leaking from a flange joint, it's probably cracked. The problem is it's under a block paved drive, it's accessible via a manhole cover with the right equipment, relining might be the solution. Does anyone know a specialist that can do this at a reasonable cost, as it might not be covered by insurance.
