Micky ET Â Â 10 #205 Posted August 20, 2014 Can someone give me any advice/help please. Every time I run the sink tap upstairs in the bathroom the kitchen stinks of drain rotten egg smell. It doesn't do it when I empty the bath or flush the loo just the sink. Iv put caustic soda down all the plug holes and left overnight and down the gulley drain outside it works for a week or so but then the smell is back. Iv also jet washed the drain. There does not appear to be any excess water coming up from the drain and it doesn't look blocked. Although I can only see from the grate for about a 8 inch or so. It's been like it for a couple of years out of the 10 years we have lived here. Â You may need to change the trap for one with a deeper seal or ad a hepvo trap that only let water one way and prevents smells
 Share this content via...

It's been like it for a couple of years out of the 10 years we have lived here.  We have come across this a couple of times. Even after we have jetted the drains and had a camera down to look for any deposits that may be left. It can be a build up of sulphur from the ground which creates an eggy smell.  ---------- Post added 20-08-2014 at 10:49 ----------  Thanks to the guys for the recommendations and if anyone would like some help or advice with their problem just get in touch on 07944733809
 Share this content via...

Call Yorkshire Water, they sorted us out nicely last year. They'll come out and clear it and probably put a camera down to see what the state of the drain is too. They did for us, for free.
