fox20thc   10 #1 Posted April 24, 2010 The ducks are happy now following the big spring clean of Hillsborough Weir carried out by the Sheffield Wildlife Trust volunteers and Hillsborough Forum.  The volunteers at work  As preparation for spring judging for the Yorkshire in Bloom competition continues Hillsborough Forum with the support of the central community assembly enlisted the help of the Sheffield Wildlife Trust to fill a skip full of litter from shopping trolleys and traffic cones to tyres and takeaway packaging which had been thrown into the river Loxley. After a hard days work the weir is now looking clean again and given that we have ducks nesting there it must be a good spot to raise a ducky family.  It would be good to remind local people that work done on the weir and the planters on Hillsborough Corner are by local volunteers NOT THE COUNCIL. The money to pay for plants etc comes from donated funds and is scarce.  So please if you are passing the planters please don't see them as the perfect place for your bus ticket/cigarette stub/coke can, and similarly if you do see these things in the planters do a good thing, take them out and put the in the bin
 Share this content via...
