Massive fire Darnall - 20/04/10

It's burnt out now and just glowing red. Main Road closed to traffic.

Understand it darnal lib club building and there are at least 7 pumps in attendnace - possibly worst sheffield fire since the old spiritalist church off abbeydale road around 3 years ago

OH's a fireman - 15 pumps in attendance - reports of persons inside the building.

 

Rumours all over the place that it's an insurance job/kids have started it/ some Czech's have been living in there for a few weeks now and they've accidentally started the fire.

 

Old concert room and Lounge building gutted, new part OK so far.

I live on Harborough Avenue when and where abouts was the accident (im at manor lane end and not sseen or heard anything just the odd siren earlier)?

 

That fire looks horrendous is it still visible?

It shut back in June 2009, and has been sat empty since (unless there were squatters).

the accident was at the other end of harborough, bottom of fretson road - it was about half 5ish (thats when i heard it on radio) then heard on 7o'clock news that the road was still closed, heard it was a taxi and motorbike.

 

Yeah i noticed the date on the photos
