Tramlines Festival 2010 23rd -25th July

Recommended Posts

Tramlines is back and this year it is going to be bigger and better.

Building on the success of last year, this year's Tramlines festival will take place between Friday 23rd - Sunday 25th July 2010 as part of Sheffield Music City.

Tramlines had a fantastic start last year with 30 venues and five outdoor stages putting on a massive free music showcase in the city. Sheffield's free urban music festival saw over 35,000 people take to the city centre in its first year, and this year that figure is expected to rise to over 50,000 revellers.

This year the Main Stage on Devonshire Green has been expanded to host 8,000, and there's some new additions including a New Music Stage on Tudor Square and a new Youth Music Festival.

Pleased to see The Leadmill getting involved this year, which might bring more publicity nationwide to the event.

Tramlines was really good for a first event last year and lots of lessons have been learned about the bigger stages particularly.

Still think a lot of lessons could be learnt from Middlesbrough Music Live who consistently do this type of event superbly each year and seem to be able to attract a fair amount of bands that go to Dot to Dot, Live at Leeds and The Great Escape, alongside a big name from the last few years to get your average Joe in. (I certainly wasn't complaining about seeing Ash in 2008!)

And all for free!

Tramlines was brilliant last year.

One area to improve would be the advertising of events and communication of exactly who is on where at what time. In particular to keep this up to date to refect changes to rimes and line ups at all venues.

A live regularly(daily) updated web site would be ideal
