O'neill's in Broomhill closed in August 2003, got a lick of yellow paint and re-opened a couple of weeks later as one of those ghastly over priced Scream Bars. I worked there for donkeys years, right through the refurb and then left for pastures new (along with all the good local custom who were not elligible for the student discounts).

 

As for the Guinness...........spot on!

Popped into the Sheaf View the other week whislt waiting for my brother's motor to be fixed round the corner, truely a great pub.

Surprised to see no one's mentioned the Cobden View in Crookes on, er, Cobden View Road. Haven't been in for a while but it holds a lot of good memories. Very friendly bar staff and a good mix of people. Thankfully no chance of it ever becoming a theme pub. But you never know.

 

Having said that, I would probably go with the Sheaf View as No.1.

Cannon or Hen and Chicks -- salt of the earth clientel,good area.great beer gardens adjacent to diesel polluted bus route and buy anything you wish.

The Nelson will not be closing, they only want to build on top of the building. More space to rent out.

Anyway after the write up in next months issue of,

Classic Rock Magazine, the place will get even more packed,

they may not be able to get everyone in.

So get there early, to grab your spot.

The girls love the best cocktails in town, at the best price.
