Contact lenses,best place to buy

Recommended Posts

I'm currently thinking of getting contact lenses, does anyone know the best place to buy them in sheffield/online? i was thinking of specsavers or vision express, does anyone have experience of them? I'm mainly looking for ease or collection/delivery and preferably monthly direct debit as I dont want to pay £100 for 6 months worth to find I rarely wear them, but do vision express do a monthly plan?

If you're not sure if you'll wear them or not, you could always buy one month's supply from Specsavers and see how you go on, before committing yourself to a plan. It works out a bit more expensive just buying the one lot, but could save you money in the long run.

the best thing to do is to go to somewhere like optical express and they will tell you which are the best sort of lenses to get for your eyes and they give you a few to try to make sure that you want to use them... i currently get my monthly lenses deliverd from them and pay by direct debt... i also by daily lenses for when i play football from http://www.contactlenses.co.uk as they are cheaper than other places

I get mine from vision express and have done for the last 15+ years - cant fault them.

I pay £22 a month for monthly disposable lens - i have astigmatism and a high prescription - the £22 covers lenses, solutions and all the after care i need (i usually get my eyes checked every 3-6 months due to long term problems). I also get a free sight check every 12 months plus about £80 towards lens for new glasses. also if i need a replacement lens (if i lose one or split it or just need a replacement as i often need certain eye drops that damage the lenses) then i dont get charged for the replacement.

Ive heard a lot of people criticise VE but i have nothing but praise for the staff and the company, never had any problems when it comes to my eyes. I go to the VE down in meadowhall by M&S, and Jill the contact lens specialist is very knowledgeable and will find you a lens that suits you rather than suits their profits.

Their glasses range is pretty good and price wise for frames and lenses is on a par with most other places.

A friend of mine has just got hers from Vision Express and is delighted with them. What I can't understand is I have variofocal glasses as she does, but she says one lens is for reading and the other one is for distance, how does that work?

Go to Specsavers for a free consultation. They will talk it through with you and let you try them etc.

I have a stigmatism and shockingly bad eyesight and was always told by a local optician I could never have soft lenses (as he was charging me the known earth for hard ones)

Specsavers are fantastic. I use Crystal Peaks branch. I have continuous wear lenses (sleep in them and everything then take em out and throw em away at the end of the month. Nearest thing to having perfect eyesight) Costs £15 a month, they are posted directly to me. I get free eye tests, free lens checks, free replacements if I lose them and half price glasses! Perfect!
