Are you kidding??? Show me another player in england that has the same dead ball skills that beckham has? I would have taken him just for the free kicks and corners.

 

This is a big loss to england cos i guarantee whoever we take instead of him won't be as good.

I have to say personally I don't feel as though its a great loss. Although I disagree with scottcross - not overated at all when he was at his peak he was awesome to watch. but sadly I feel as though he's passed that phase now. Although thinking about it who could we replace him with??? hmmmmm

I was watching the game against Chievo. He just seemed to pull up out of nowhere, couldn't walk on it, hopped off and then was stretched away. Didn't look good at all.

I agree, a vastly overrated pretty boy that can take a decent free kick or cross but do bugger all else.

I take no pleasure in a player getting injured but we are far better off without him in South Africa. We can't afford to take clapped out has beens on sympathetic grounds.

He can't generally even get in the first 11 of a poor side like Milan these days.

I spy a lot of jealousy,Beckham was never going to be a first choice and I think Capello will be more worried about Lennons condition but as someone to throw on in the last twenty minutes or so to change the style or give others a rest he is ideal,his experience would have been invaluable,as for the sniping about his pretty boy status etc ,think about it ,Beckham has,for a long time,any need to put himself through the rigours of playing football ever again ,unlike the over rated Chelsea and Man City players he plays because he enjoys the game

I agree rioja, with beckhams delivery and crouches height i think it would have been worth taking him, all the other players that have been mentioned (milner aside) have been massively inconsistant!
