websters gue   16 #26 Posted March 4, 2010 (edited) At least Margaret Thatcher had the decency to pay her respects to him which is more than the lefties will do when she dies.  That's exactly what someone said earlier in a post on this thread, it's subsequently been deleted by the mods due to it's likewise untactful nature but many thanks for posting it again. Â Actually it's still there! It's your little outburst earlier that got deleted. Had I kicked it off I could have actually understood what the heck you were on about but you wanted to bring Thatcher into this thread you now suddenly - in a u turn kinda way - wish to remain a sacred tribute. Â For what it's worth, this Foot fella seemed ok and I've shown appropriate resepct given the context of this thread and where it was going at the time of my contribution. drinkingman   10 #28 Posted March 4, 2010 How sad to hear of the death of Michael Foot, even at the grand age of 96.  His wife, Jill Craigie, pre-deceased him.  He led Labour to its worst ever defeat in a general election following the publication of a manifesto dubbed at the time as 'the longest suicide note in history'. But for all his faults, Michael Foot was a passionate socialist. His heart and soul was in the Labour movement and he was a strong supporter of CND, believing in a world without nuclear arms.  He was a brilliant orator, intelligent, witty and engaging.  Heartily agree. I saw him speak in Hyde Park approximately 30 years ago. A better speaker I have never heard since.  R.I.P. Michael
 Share this content via...
