Has the grosvenor hotel shut down as i have noticed there are no curtains and last time i went past the main entrance it said closed for police dog training

Yes it's been closed down for some months, Sheff.

 

It's being demolished, eventually, to make way for the new retail quarter development.

The building is going to be demolished in the near future for part of the new retail centre, and inside the hotel was getting a little shabby. It is my opinion that the hotel operator probably took the view that it was better to close it up rather than risk their reputation by running the hotel right into the ground.

When the money is forthcoming for the new retail centre, the whole area

around the old Grosvenor Hotel will be demolished and rebuilt with new shops.

Telephone House is closing in September but I don't think it is going to be part of the re-development of the City Centre so should still be standing for a few years yet but who know's!!!

It was in The Star about this a few weeks ago.
