...it doesn't mean that there is nothing wrong with it. In fact if you actually read into it rather than making badly-informed rant-esque posts you'll find that their privacy sucks, where any privacy exists at all, the same as some other large companies that provide email & social networking. Which brings me nicely onto...

 

What does your broadband provider know about you? Probably, a vast amount more than Google.

 

Well yes, my internet connection goes through them so they'll know anywhere I visit. But that's not the problem, the problem is what the people with the data do with it. My ISP logs connections & errors in the same way that respectable web hosting companies log connections & errors, to provide statistics that are useful to working out what infrastructure upgrades may be needed, usage stats to provide to their customers, & information to see where problems may be when they get support calls. They are in no way interested in data-mining to provide intrusive embedded adverts, & data that can be monetised by selling to third-party companies such as Phorm (to name just one).

I've found Chrome to be a pretty decent and fast browser and I prefer it over Firefox.

 

My browser of choice is Opera though, I think that it is far better than any of the browsers that I have used.

I would wager that quite a few Chrome users won't actually be aware that Chrome gathers information about every single website they visit.

Yes, their is an option to switch this off but the fact that it is set to default means that the vast majority of users will be sending their surfing habits to Google without even knowing:!:

 

If you were to poll every web surfer in the UK with the question:

 

Would you like your browser to gather information about every single website you visit......YES or NO?

 

I suspect the vast majority would say NO.

 

If you were to ask all Chrome Users.

 

Would you like Google to gather information about every single website you visit....YES or NO?

 

I suspect the vast majority would say NO.

The problem is people on the whole really don't care. I get adverts linked to my Gmail....so what? I get Gmail for free. I happy with that.

 

Google maybe have noted where I buy my DVDs from, so what?

 

I can't think of anyway whatsoever any of this has had a negetive effect on my life. My bank account is the same has it ever was. I don't get phonecalls in the middle of the night selling viagra. My Spam still get filtered, the same has it always has.

My preferred choice is still Orca I have used Firefox,IE,Opera & chrome and I find them fiddley,but, everyone to their own liking.

I use google chrome for two reasons.

 

The OP's 'complicated' complaint to me is confusing because the first reason I use chrome is because it's so very simple compared to the other browsers.

 

Just got what I need, no fancy extras, and no clutter at the top of the screen. My internet explorer has two google search bars and about a million buttons that I will never use. Chrome has one bar for searching and web addresses and two buttons.

 

The other reason is that in my experience it works so much faster than the others as well, I mean starting up as well as loading web pages.

It's funny though that nearly every major antispyware software from the likes of Spybot,Adaware,A sqaured,Superantispyware etc etc, will still flag up tracking cookies and data miners, whilst low risk all these programs consider these as spyware, in that they track the users surfing habits.

 

So I suppose Snail Boy, and Flaming you guys have never ever deleted any tracking cookies or data miners that your antispyware has flagged up?

.....because essentially these "spyware" items are doing the same thing as Google Chrome does...keep a track of your surfing habits.

I have deleted spyware, cookies and the like.

 

But still question exists. Tracking my surfing habits!, so what?

 

Do your shopping at Tesco, use a Clubcard? All of a sudden they know what brand of toilet paper you use, your politics based on your daily newspaper choice.

Opera actually pioneered the favourite web pages, Google Chrome copied the concept off Opera.

Errr Nazo, If you have been following the original comment and my reply we are talking about the "Speed Dial" concept, that Google Chrome copied for their "Most visited Websites".

 

NOT bookmark favourites.
