I've scoured this thread since 1/1/12 and come up with a list of the most recommended. I've ignored tradesmen recommending each other and also ignored people with only a few posts (<25). I did this once before and some of the old names come up, a few have disappeared and a couple of new ones too. All these have been recommended by four different posters or more.

Just wanted to add a recommendation for Stuart Swan (Swan plumbing and heating) who's number I got from this site.

He has been to my sisters house 3 times in the last few days to sort out the central heating and do some odd jobs, even when the weather was knee deep in snow!

She's asked me to post this and to mention that he is an absolute godsend.

We had Dalton Roofing do a few jobs on our roof. They provided a quote on the day they came around and it was fully detailed and a competitive price compared to two other quotes.

 

The bad weather and with it being a relatively small job (2 days) meant it was hard to pin them down to a date, and a few promised dates were broken with me having to chase up where they were.

 

However, when they did the work they were excellent. Clean and considerate and worked hard. Didn't need to come in the house and just got on with it.

 

Would definitely recommend them. Done a good job and hopefully stopped a leak.
