"We're the Brotherhood. We hang around on street corners” announces the megalomaniac cult leader Pringle in Funeral Games - Joe Orton’s satirical black farce on the subject of religious hypocrisy. Pringle’s perverted views turn religion upside down, with hilarious and surreal consequences. First presented by Yorkshire Television in August 1968 as part of a series based on ‘The Seven Deadly Virtues,’ Funeral Games is a comic masterpiece. With a wickedly delicious plot, a defrocked priest and a Dundee cake, Orton’s outrageous characters and black humour will shock and delight audiences in equal measure.
