What do people find funny?

Recommended Posts

Hey

So what's everyone finding funny now-a-days?

It can be stand up, sitcom, film, basically anything that makes you laugh.

Anything except humour designed to make you cringe such as The Office.

Actually... anything except that and 2.4 Children.

Saw a great act at the Last Laugh on Friday,Christian Riley.Comedy with a guitar.Justin Moorhouse is also always good value.Best recent sit com has to be Miranda.I never get bored of QI(even on Dave). And Ivan Brackenbury is a favourite at the moment.I've not seen Roger Monkhouse for a while but he's always good.

The Office.

Black Books, based on a recommendation from this here Forum, and I LOVED it.

Dylan Moran stand up -excellent.

Harry Enfield.

The Big Bang (I think - is that the one with all the geeks in it?)

I went to a live comedy night quite recently, and one thing I really, really found annoying and ensured that I won't be going back or recommending them was the use of extra offensive and sensitive subjects as "material". If acts need to make jokes about child abuse to be funny, they shouldn't be on stage.

I suppose offensive comedy isn't really for everyone, and some can be of incredibly bad taste. I run a night at the Library Theatre called The Jester Society if you're interested in live comedy.

As for sitcoms, Black Books is amazing. So is Miranda, i thought it was one of the funniest things i've seen in a long time. Also any writing of Graham Linehan is always a winner.

I'll have to think about who I think is really a good quality funny bloke/lass, but I can unhesitatingly say that Ricky Gervaise and Micheal MacIntyre are NOT the comedy Gods they think they are...
