Sandcastle   10 #949 Posted December 27, 2015 Without doubt the best Indian take away in Sheff has to be Taj in Middlewood Road, S6  Booked ZARA'S for our Christmas meal , they accepted the booking but then decided not to open without any notice or explanation , they just posted a notice on the window , luckily I happened to be passing on the bus and spotted it , they had my 'phone no. and Email address . Jeddo   10 #955 Posted July 31, 2016 THE BEST Indian restaurant in Sheffield is The House of Spice on Ecclesall Road next to Napoleons Casino, opposite St William's Church, and it has a car park opposite (in supermarket grounds - shared car park).  NOTE: The restaurant is closed for 2 to 4 weeks (July/Aug 2016) for kitchen refurbishment.  I am a foodie, having travelled the world for food. Everything they do there is simply superb. Never heard a bad word about it, and have introduced dozens of people to it and they still go there. I've gone there since it opened, and had birthday do's there too.  Plates and crockery a bit modern, not the usual scratched patterned crap. Very friendly staff. Great interior and ambiance. They don't use red food colouring, and everything is freshly cooked. VERY reasonable prices too.  Try it just once and you'll be hooked, as I am. I get twitchy if I miss a week! Jeddo   10 #958 Posted August 30, 2016 (edited) Re House of Spice.  There's a note on the window saying closed for kitchen refurbishment.  Also, a waiter in another Indian restaurant, (where the House of Spice owner goes for a chat and to 'hang-out' as they do), told us on Monday 29th August 2016 that the House of Spice chap had been in and had said they were opening again soon. Urban choola is a fab place, in the top 10 places in Sheffield for Indian style food... Â Great news. Urban Choola has maintained its high standards (apart from a brief, unsuccessful, attempt to make dosas) but was too small and too far away from where I live!
