Sure you have not just knocked the wireless switch into the off position?

In device manager / network adaptors is there still a wireless card listed?

..Network Diagnostics for WindowsXP

WINDOWS CANNOT CONNECT TO THE INTERNET USING HTTP,HTTPS,OR FTP.THIS IS PROBABLY CAUSED BY FIREWALL SETTINGS ON THIS COMPUTER.CHECK THE FIREWALL FOR THE HTTP PORT 80, HTTP PORT 443 AND FTP PORT 21.

system restore is on by default in xp

its in the start menu

it should have automatically made some restore points

it shows up like a calendar with some dates in bold (these are the restore points) click on 1 before you had trouble and let it (hopefully) do its business

I have an Acer and I too have lost interest in computing! Acer are not very good (that's the family friendly version) ie - they're crap!

i've checked the restore calender, the earliest date higlighted is the 1st jan, which is no good.maybe because it's a new year??..:help:

Your saying that the card is listed and is enabled in device manager?

Is there a wireless icon down the bottom right? IF you double click or right click it what happens? If there isn't one can you look in 'my network places'
