Does anyone remember Woodland Street, near the Barracks?

My Uncle Alf used to live at No. 3 or 4 - all the local kids knew him 'cos he was double-jointed, and could lay his forearm across the back of his neck.

The other thing I remember is an ice-cream place, where we took a jug and they'd fill it with ice-cream for us.

Yes - here's a photo and a map. :)

That's fascinating, Hllsboro... (I love looking at old maps)

So, it looks like Woodland St was sited where the Langsett estate is, now, then?

Those 2-story houses look interesting, although I lived in the area, I can't remember ever entering one, anybody any info?

Yes - this view shows a similar area to that of the map I posted; the red circle shows where the Wycliffe Congregational Church used to be.

Yes, that'll be him. His wife was Ada Varley. He was my granny's brother.

His other trick was that he could put his leg round the back of his neck!
