natjack   10 #6 Posted December 23, 2009 Do our taxes only pay for the clearence of snow from main roads?Ring up and ask them if you're that interested. Provided the main roads and bus routes are clear, that's about all I'm prepared to contribute to really.  AFAIK the side roads have never got gritted or cleared unless there was special circumstances. mike84 Â Â 23 #10 Posted December 23, 2009 There are hundreds and hundreds of miles of main roads, about 2 dozen gritters and 24hrs in a day. Thousands of miles of roads and footpaths in total. Â It's a thankless task. One of the jobs every tax payer wants doing. I'd imagine to clear all the roads and grit all the roads in the city the council would have to purchase at least 30 / 40 more waggons, employ 30 / 40 more drivers and purchase 10 times as much grit. Â Seems like a massive expense for the week that we suffer per year. Personally I'd much rather the money that would be needed be spent on schools, parks, libaries, care staff etc.
 Share this content via...
viney40   10 #11 Posted December 23, 2009 No. Is this the best form of advertising your business?  Not advertising anything, Just not afraid to show who I am and what I believe. My personal opinions do not effect my work. I am big enough and strong enough, not to hide behind a couple of initials. Honesty is the best policy.
