Walk: Edale

 

Date: 13th December 2009

 

Start time: 10.30am

 

Meeting point: Edale Station, grid ref. 122853

 

Approx distance: 7.5 miles Approx duration: 5 hours

 

Route: Edale / Mam Tor / Rushup Edge, round route

 

Terrain: Mostly well used paths & tracks with some ascents & a steep descent. 15-20 styles, depending on route. Muddy stretches, not recommended in high winds or snow.

 

Parking: Several car parks in Edale

 

Refreshments: 2 pubs & a cafe at Edale

 

Toilets: Edale car park. None en route.

 

Public transport: Sheffield to Manchester train, leaves Sheffield at 9:26am & arrives in Edale @ 9:59am. Return train leave Edale @ 16:32pm

 

Additional information:

 

In the event of bad weather, this walk may be cancelled and an alternative put in its place. Please check this thread prior to setting off to ensure it is still taking place. Thank you!

 

IMPORTANT:

 

Anyone joining the walk should be of a level of fitness relative

to the walk being undertaken, be appropriately dressed, have

suitable footwear, and have with them enough food and drink

for the duration of the walk.

I'll be there. It'll be a year to the day since I first met and joined all my fellow Shamblers at last years christmas party, with the annivessary of my first walk to come next week.
