1st TV programme you can remember?

Recommended Posts

The Woodentops in black and white of course, with the biggest spotty dog you ever did see.

Also, perhaps a bit later, The Herbs. MOH can still sing the songs...."I'm Bayleaf I'm the gardener, I work from early dawn, you'll find me raking up the leaves, or tidying up the lawn" - come on, sing along.:hihi:

No idea what the first programme I can remember watching was but it will be one of;

You Bet (I absolutely loved that show!!)

Challenge Anneka

Noel's House Party

Gladiators

They're the first shows that come to mind from my childhood.

Didn't really watch tv for enjoyment until the early 1980's but I have vague memories of the schools tv programme Look And Read during the mid-late 1970's that my class was made to watch. My vague memories appear to be consistent with reruns of The King's Dragon and Cloud Burst. The former made me want to visit Hastings where the series was set and filmed, in particular St Clements Caves which I think was featured heavily.

Champion the wonder horse. casey jones and the cannonball express.

Was it just me or did Champion get shown at least 2 or 3 times as much as Casey did?

Anyone remember "

", the Aussie "Star Trek"?

And the "Banana Splits", now out on DVD.

Or "

", that must have been one of the earliest shows I watched.

And "

" of course.

"I'm a very friendly lion called Parsley..."

"I'm a rather fat feathery owl called sage .... 'Whroo, whroo"

"I'm Dill the Dog, I'm a dog named dill"

I remember most of the characters,

Peshwana Bedhi the Indian. Lord Basil and Lady Rosemary. The chives, Tarragon the dragon(?). Now, was the chives' teacher called Miss Onion, or Miss Shallott or something. There was also a policeman, but I forget his name.

I recall going along with my mum to view a house with an intention to buy it, the chlidren of the household were sitting in the "front room" watching the first ever advert, I was allowed to go to join them, does anyone know what date that would be, 1955/56?
