The guilt of killing a spider

Recommended Posts

Trying my best to help a spider out of some paint, I ended up causing it more harm than good. I managed to free it from the paint, unfortuantly half of its legs didn't make it. A sudden cold shiver like feeling went through me and I felt really guilty and depressed.

I get the same feeling when I accidentally step on a snail in the dark, or something. Im just a menace to my fellow creatures. Most people don't have problems when it comes to killing the small creatures, I dunno why I do. Thank god the poor spider couldnt scream, and thank god it wasnt something bigger like a panda, cos that would have really upset me.

Does anyone else feel guilty when they injure or kill a spider?

Spiders = ok, usefull, eat flies etc.

Snails = waste of space, French have the best idea

I don't kill spiders, but I have no problem catapulting snails over the garden fence.

It would depend on how big and menacing it was.. I usually tend to throw them out if I can, but sometimes they are just asking for the yellow pages for instance if they are too big to fit in the glass

I once flicked a fly into an extractor fan and watched it whizz around for abit before being shot out the other end . . . . . .

Made me laugh anyway.:D

I like spiders and would not kill one intentionally, as they are useful predators around the house. They are not interested in your food and kill things that are. They don't make a noise, don't smell and don't buzz round your face or bite you. Also, all British spiders are completely harmless. They are more scared of you than vice versa. The ones you see scurrying about are usually males looking for a mate. You will never get rid of them from a house, however clean it is. Having said this, I don't feel guilty if I accidentally kill one.

Spiders are scary and i WILL kill them. I do feel bad when killing them but it has to be done, along with moths, as they have no point in life but to scare the livng s**t out of me.

The first night my sister met my bofriend we were sat in her living room having a glass of wine when a moth flew in and straight down her top, she just jumped up whipped her blouse off, she had nothing on underneath, she then ran topless round the living room screaming hystericaly.

I could have died.

I like to feed spiders with a nice blue bottle or wasp, there is currently a web in our porch and if i get the chance I catch said blue bottle in a glass and then let it out so it flies straight into the spiders web then watch the spider go to work. Facinating.
