Philip Laing - now sentenced

Recommended Posts

Insulting someone is not a criminal offence, so on that argument, the boy should never have been charged with anything. Except, of course, urinating in a public place, which is a trivially minor offence.

Your last sentence proves what a shocking state our country is in.

Okay - it's on a war memorial but it's not as if he <removed> on it with any intent - he didn't even know what planet he was on. To be fair this lad is not far out of school, the memorial probably doesn't mean anything to him at all. Fact is though, that he's recognised the error in his ways, is now aware of how his actions have offended other people and has openly and sincerely apologised for it.

Looks like he's not the only one.

The memory of the loved ones being used as a toilet is pretty insulting.

I don't feel insulted though (and the memorial is there to commemorate some of my family who died in WW II).

Neither did the WW II veteran on Calendar a few weeks back when all this kicked off.

They are the victims of the insult.

Again, I don't feel like I'm a victim:confused:

Which in a roundabout way means your wrong.

Actually, it's you who's wrong. All this proves is that I have a different view to things than yourself.

Members of my family have graves -

Lucky them. Although you probably had the whole of their remains to give a decent burial to.

Okay the boy fcuked up - but to such an extent that he should be denied an education?

Wrong decison by Sheffield Hallam if the above is correct

Nothing like speculating on speculation.

What's that got to do with anything?

Have just been advised by an inside source at sheffield Hallam uni (senior staff member) that they have asked Stuart Laing to leave the university. Due to it bringing the uni in to disrepute.

I think this is a good result

This should be in the paper later

What about Phil Laing?

Is this 'senior staff' happy for you to break the news then?

Urinating in a public place has been a trivially minor offence since about 1279.
