CHAIRBOY   10 #17 Posted October 31, 2009 why do they call it upton park then  Before St.Mirren moved to their new ground, they played at the St.Mirren stadium in Paisley, but I, like many others, referred to it as Love Street. Grandad.Malky   11 #18 Posted October 31, 2009 Why do people bother with these name changes, the fans will still call it by the original name, we have the Kop, south stand, Bramall lane and john St……………..don’t tell the sponsors but that’s how it goes. CHAIRBOY Â Â 10 #20 Posted November 1, 2009 Who would buy the name St James Park and why? Genuine question. Â Several clubs have gone this way with sponsorship - money again! Leicester played at Filbert Street but Walkers (crisps) put cash in and it became the Walkers' Stadium.. The chairman of Newcastle sees it as an avenue for raising cash and is prepared to change the name. The fans don't want this historic name to disappear but the chairman may well ignore their imput. Personally, I wish he'd sell out and clear off back to London.
 Share this content via...

Lotusflower   10 #24 Posted November 4, 2009 It's just been announced, and what a catchy name it is! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/8342406.stm  He can call it what he wants. It makes no difference to us Toon fans!  We know what it's called and will continue to call it that. As if any more proof were needed of the man's complete incompetence at running a football club! Remember this much too you jokers...there but for the fates goes YOUR club...some clown with an ego to match his paunch and a pocket full of cash made from buying cheap and tacky clothing companies with fading brand names and piling it high and selling it cheap buying your club. And that after publicly admitting he knows diddly about football? Wow...feel better for that little rant. :hihi:
 Share this content via...
