Merry Christmas. Too early?

Recommended Posts

Tesco Express at Manor Top has a poster in its window wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. Only two months to go - time to put your sprouts on for Christmas dinner (thanks Terry Wogan).

Looking forward to buying next years Easter eggs next week!

Sod bonfire night. Let's get Halloween out of the way.

Bah Humbug.

I don't do all that Christianity nonsense so to celebrate Christmas would be hypocritical.

Still time to plant your sprouts and have them grow in time for Christmas!

IMO if Christmas starts when it's supposed to, i.e. the last day of Advert(Xmas eve), it might be a whole lot less tedious. It's just horrible commercialisation now.

BTW, Christmas pre-dates Christianity by a long time (six centuries to be precise). The festival was originally known as Saturnalia - the festival of Saturn. The virgin birth/nativity story etc is of course also stolen from the mythology of Mithra (an ancient Iranian pagen god).
