I'd email the mac support via the website, as there may be an alternative... as long as you have made your first contact regarding the issue within the warrantee period, then they have to honour it even if it isn't till AFTER the time limit..  however i'm sure you could take it to the apple store on the 1st Nov and they'd advise you from there.
