On average, how many enquiries do you currently get each week or per month?

 

Of those you do get, what's the % for conversion?

 

Where I am going with this, is, of the enquiries you do get, do you have a problem converting those into bookings or are you losing those too?

 

What are you doing already and of that, what has been working and what has not?

 

You need to consider 1) what methods of advertising are you currently using and 2) what methods are you using to convert ads to enquiries and enquiries to booking.

Much is down to the budget you have and the resources you have available, including your own time.

when planning my wedding we looked into A PRO freelance photographer and was qouted

£400 for like 50 shots I lmfao realy come one the prices some guys ask is stupid years ago maybe ok but now with digital cams and computers doing all the work at a much lower price than a dark room ect

 

maybe if prices where more realistic more would opt for your services ?

 

in the end we had all family and freinds take pics with dig cams I collected all mem cards and edited converted to b-w ect myself on pc and they look brilliant ?

£400 is cheap, i've seen quotes for £2-3k for weddings.

there are loads of advertising mediums around most are a complete waste of time and money.

The number 1 way is to talk to people and and get your face known. Get to the numerous business networking events in Sheffield and talk, talk and talk hand everybody a card and let them know how good you are!

Networking isn't for everyone; I got to loads, and always have done and you dont see everyone there, mostly the same people - those who like to do it and who find it works for them. It's not the No. 1 way to get work, it's the No. 1 way to get known over a medium-to-long term and work comes over time as a result of being a regular attender. It's one way but not the best way.

 

Word of mouth referral and recommendation is and always probably will be No. 1 so what you need to do is use your marketing budget to offset some low cost quotes, e.g. do some low cost but high quality shoots and get their testimonials and max them out in your favour. Go and offer yourself to charities who try to save money by getting stuff donated. Pitch your work for free or cheap and get a testimonial - but make sure you excel to make it worth it of course.

 

Let peolple know what you specialise in e.g. weddings, fashion, children, and so on. Target your market dont try to be all things to all people.

Tell me what program does all the work for you, because if such a program exists, I've never heard of it.

I think there is a tendency to think technology has made everything easy. Unfotunately thats not the case. It makes one task easier - and creates or adds a burden on another!

 

Also, you are paying for the skill of the photographer as much as anything.

Thats what you need to be getting over - without being seen as an arty. Everyone takes photos on a phone these days but for the most part these look naff. If you are good - this will help you.

 

Maybe an angle would be that you wouldn't let your brother in law fix your teeth so why let him photo your wedding or whatever
