This weekend see the return to Endcliffe Park of the Wood Fair.

 

South Yorkshire Wood Fair 2009

26th September 2009

 

Endcliffe Park

 

Start Time: 10:00am

 

Join Sheffield City Council's Trees and Woodlands Team for Woodfair, Sheffield's favourite free family festival.

 

See the amazing things that can be made out of wood as local crafts people and artists demonstrate their skills.

 

Have a go at woodcrafts, art and woody games in the Ranger activity area.

 

Get the lowdown on wood energy for your business and home.

 

Discover fascinating tree facts and find out how important our woods were in the past and are for a sustainable future.

 

Get a different view of the trees on the aerial rope walk.

 

See a range of machinery in action from chainsaws to industrial clippers.

Knights In Battle will be one of the 'sideshow' attractions - not particularly woody, perhaps, but a lot of people interested in traditional crafts are interested in other historical things. (Well, that's our excuse for having a recruiting stand there!)

 

We're not doing a full display, but you'll be able to look at our weapons and armour, perhaps try it on if you're about the right size, and see if this idea of violence as a fun pastime will ever take off!

A new group of textile artists named knotjustitch will be holding their first exhibition at the fair.

Just today.

 

They usually have some kind of bonfire in the evening, so it finishes quite late, around 10 ish.
