Cyclone   10 #49 Posted September 23, 2009 So maybe how well this shift pattern would suit depends on the working patterns of your friends and family to some extent.
 Share this content via...

Cyclone   10 #51 Posted September 23, 2009 My point was that neither statement is an absolute (regarding having week days off). I originally said (as did a few others) that it would be rubbish, but that's based on my life style and my friends. You say that it's great, but that's based on your life style and friends. So in terms of advice to give to anyone, it should be to consider what having days off in the week will be like based on their life style and their friends working patterns. Guest   #53 Posted September 23, 2009 This is exactly the shift that south yorks firefighters are protesting over. ATM thet work two day shifts 9-6 then two night shifts 6-9am. My husband does this. Really itsnot 4 daysoff, more like 3 as he doesn't get home till nearer lunchtime and then has to spend most of the day sleepin to recover from 2 night shifts! It's pretty tough, especially with kids. And like someone elsesaid, you don't get many weekends off to socialise with people/family who work a'normal week! Guest   #55 Posted September 23, 2009 (edited) ! My advise would be to do it if you think it fits with your current life. But if you're plannin on havin a family any time soon then give it serious serious consideration! Good luck! Lewbie   10 #58 Posted September 25, 2009 Just thought I would give everyone an update.  I went for the interview early this week and had a phone call today to say I was successful . After much deliberation and seeing most of the responses on here I decided to turn it down. I figured the 12 hours shifts would be far too much, and the lack of a regular weekend off wouldn't work well around my soical life.  I currently work flexi time Mon-Fri and think I would soon start to miss my weekends working 4 on 4 off. I can see how it would work for some people but after having a good think about it I dont think I could last!
 Share this content via...
