To be fair these one do serve a purpose. There are often people working the other side of the cones and the lanes are much narrower than normal. Making people travel at 50 is far safer than letting people carry on at about 80.

The restriction could be lifted when nobody is working but that would mean covering all the signs which waste a lot of time.

There are signs at about a mile and half a mile before the restriction to give people lots of warning.

Put it this way, if its late at night (dark) and they don't flash how would they be able to pick the reg plate up? I wouldn't worry if I was you.

As earlier, these ones don't flash and have two infrared spotlights either side of each camera to see in the dark.

What about helping to protected those working on the road and other drivers that maybe effected by speeding motorists driving where there are narrow lanes, adverse cambers and sudden lane changes.
